Meet Jamie
"Pleasanton is a wonderful, vibrant and caring community. We deserve a council that works together to benefit the community it serves. The current council is not truly representative of our community, and the dysfunction it represents is harmful to the future of our hometown. Decisions made by the City Council today will affect the rest of our lives. We must have a voice. I have the desire, courage, and experience to bring people together to get things right and see to it that the success of the city continues."
I am committed to serving as a community leader for residents in the newly established city council, district 3. I look forward to engaging with and bringing the community together. Let’s pay attention and ensure we have a voice focused on protecting Pleasanton’s quality of life, supporting public safety efforts, making meaningful collaboration with the school district, supporting local small businesses, and balancing modern city needs while safeguarding the character of Main St. I have served as a trustee for the Pleasanton Unified School District from 2008-2020 (PUSD), serving as clerk and twice as Board President. I governed during the great recession, which required difficult decisions. To call for more transparency, I insisted on instituting an ongoing cadence and process to procure required legal and audit services. I also served on the Board’s audit, facilities, policy committee, and interview panels.
I have held many leadership roles during my volunteer career. I was a founding member of the Pleasanton PTA Council. I organized the first Health and Wellness PTA committee, which led to serving eight years on the California State PTA’s Board of Managers, and the California Department of Education task forces, including the Environmental Literacy task force. Focusing on career technical education, I served as the Tri-Valley ROP’s PUSD Board Member representative. I have always had a particular focus on adolescent wellness and mental health.
I am a Bay Area native born in Oakland and lived in Berkeley before my parents moved us to Pleasanton in 1969. I attended Foothill High School and was elected Senior class President. My children also attended Pleasanton schools. Kindergarten through high school. I am your hometown choice for the city council.
Since 2007, I have been employed by Alameda County Health Care Services Agency and have worked on many impactful projects. My work in public health has allowed me to work with cities, community-based organizations, unincorporated neighborhoods, law enforcement, libraries, the medical community, the County’s Emergency Medical Services Agency, and school districts county-wide to listen, lead, plan, implement and collaborate. I am currently a program and communications manager in the office of the Health Care Services Agency Director. It is a privilege and honor to serve the people of Alameda County. Being part of a large public agency that is the safety net for its residents has taught me so much about our human condition and community resilience.
